Check with the medical care institution, etc. where the child will be born, and confirm the method for paying the childbirth expenses.

When using the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions

No procedure with the Health Insurance Society is necessary before childbirth. Please exchange an agreement regarding the use of "the system of direct payment of Childbirth and Childcare Lump-sum Grant to medical institutions" with the medical care institution, etc. where the child will be born. The amount to be paid at the medical care institution is equal to the childbirth expenses minus the Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Grant payment amount (up to 500,000 yen: including the maternity medical care compensation amount). The difference in cases where the childbirth expenses were less than 500,000 yen as well as the Society's unique additional benefits (50,000 yen) will be separately paid. Approximately two to three months after childbirth, a special invoice from the Society will be sent to the insured person's home, so please fill it out and then submit it.

If you would like the difference and additional benefits to be paid before the special invoice arrives, please submit the documents below.
